We can feel the pain of not getting those monthly spas at the salon. Well, glowing skin is definitely achievable if you follow a skincare regime consistently. However, turning healthy and glowing skin is a dream but requires serious hard work and proper skincare ingredients.
We were thrilled as we spoke to Raisa, Letthatserumsinkin and it was everything raw and honest when it comes to skincare. Letthatserumsinkin aka Raisa & Rehan is two medical students sharing their skincare journey with the world through your Instagram page. We all have the perception that skincare is just restricted to women but they have normalized that how “SKINCARE DOES NOT HAVE A GENDER”. While their aesthetic Instagram feed is literally everything, Raisa takes us through her skincare routine that helps her maintain healthy skin and of course her take on Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum Plus Set. Time to learn from her about skincare!
Let’s start off by talking about your skin type and your major skin woes?
I have dry sensitive skin and sometimes my face becomes very dry, flaky, and starts burning in this weather. I hate it when it happens and I also have very chapped dehydrated lips, and my skin gets tanned easily.
What made you draw your attention towards Korean skincare? And why do you think Korean skincare is so popular nowadays?
I feel like most of the Korean skincare brands focus on soothing the skin, making sure it’s properly hydrated and nourished. Korean skincare adopts a more gentle approach compared to the regular skincare brands in my opinion. K-beauty is getting popular these days because of people like me(haha). K-beauty is perfect for those who have sensitive skin because as I have already mentioned they’re very soothing and gentle when it comes to caring.
What’s your favourite K-beauty product & what are your three non-negotiables when it comes to prepping your skin before makeup?
Honestly, I haven’t tried a lot of Korean beauty products but my favorite one I’d say is the Cosrx Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask, I love how it feels on my skin. This product is really a life savior for dry skin peeps out there. I usually prefer dewy makeup & to achieve perfect dewy makeup I always start with a good hydrating Serum, Moisturizer, Primer, and a light to medium coverage hydrating Foundation you’d literally glow all day if you follow this. Also, don’t forget your sunscreen!
How has your relationship with your skin changed since the start of your skincare journey?
Being Indians we always face a lot of colour discrimination and I used to face the same I was very insecure about my skin tone. When I started my skincare journey people used to suggest a lot of ‘skin whitening’ and ‘brightening’ products which made me feel more insecure about myself. And it wasn’t easy. When I started my own skincare journey without taking advice from a boomer Indian, I started to think positively about my skin. I ignored all my flaws and now skincare is a kind of therapy for me. Sometimes, I feel insecure about my skin and during this phase, I like to remind myself that the way you look doesn’t really matter at the end of the day.
What is your favorite hydrating product keeping in mind the weather in India these days?
I just love Face mists and overnight masks as they have really helped me a lot to overcome the humid weather.
What has your experience been specifically after using Goodal serum? Would you recommend this Goodal Serum Set to your friends and family?
The Vitamin C serum from Goodal worked well on my skin. There wasn’t a huge difference but my skin felt more glowy, smoother, and plumper after using the serum set which included- Vita C Sheet Mask, Vita C Cream, and Green Tangerine Serum continuously. Honestly, patience is the key when it comes to skincare. And this is a good beginner-friendly Vitamin C serum with amazing ingredients. So, if you’re a beginner and interested in trying out Korean Beauty then you’d love this product.
What’s your basic skincare regime?
I like to keep my skincare routine very simple. So, I start off with using a cleanser followed up with a Vitamin C Serum, Moisturizer, and Sunscreen in my AM routine. Whereas, the PM routine, it has Cleanser, Face mist, Serum and moisturizer. I even do the 7 step routine sometimes when I incorporate chemical exfoliants but very rarely like once in two weeks or once in a week.
One skin-care ingredient you can’t get enough of at the moment?
Hyaluronic acid 🤍 It’s a well-known ingredient for its skin benefits, especially for dry skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Maccaron Recommendation: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser Water Gel with Hyaluronic Acid & COSRX Hydrium Triple Hyaluronic Moisture Ampoule
What’s your favorite thing about skincare?
Skincare is more like a therapeutic de-stress thing for me like yoga, you do it for peace and the benefits are more than that. Sitting in front of a mirror and taking care of your own face feels very nice and calming to me, I mean, who wouldn’t enjoy this feeling!
